Ather Energy, the leader in the electric two-wheeler market in India, has made a big announcement for its customers. The company has launched a new battery warranty scheme called “Eight70”.

Under this scheme, other customers can now get a warranty of up to 8 years or 80,000 km on the battery of their electric scooter. This warranty will be available only to those customers who take Pro membership.

Rs 4,999 will have to be paid for Pro membership, and after that customers will be able to avail of this scheme by paying an additional Rs 4,999.

Ather Energy CEO Tarun Mehta announced this warranty scheme on social media platform X. He described it as the company’s most comprehensive battery warranty scheme to date.

He Said that under this scheme, Ather’s batteries will retain up to 70% of their original health even after 8 years. He said that the company has had customers driving Ather scooters since 2018, and their battery health remains at an average of 90%.

How to avail warranty benefits

New and existing customers can avail of this warranty scheme. For this, customers will first have to take Pro Membership, which costs Rs 4,999. After this, they can opt for the “Eight70” battery warranty scheme by paying an additional Rs 4,999.

If there is any manufacturing defect in the battery, or the health of the battery falls below 70% during the coverage period, the company will repair or replace the battery.

What things will not be covered in this warrantyHowever, some conditions apply in this scheme. If the battery is damaged due to theft, accident, flood, fire, or customer negligence, then the warranty will not be available.

Any unauthorized modification of the battery, changing or removing the VIN (Vehicle Identification Number), or BIN are also excluded from this scheme.

Apart from this, the warranty will not apply to natural wear and tear or physical damage to the battery. This scheme will start from the date of purchase of the vehicle and will continue for the entire coverage period.
