YangWang U8: The Future of Transportation with Drive, Float, and Turn Capabilities

These days, a video of a car is going viral on social media. This car sometimes runs on land and sometimes floats in water like a boat. Not only this, this car turns completely while standing in one place like a tank.

People are surprised to see the exploits of this car on social media and are calling it an all-rounder car. This car, which looks like a Range Rover, is equipped with many more features than it.

Till now people used to praise the capabilities and features of Land Rover cars for running on rough and difficult roads, but in front of this, even Land Rover looks dwarf.

So let’s know where this car has come from and if you want to buy it, then where can you get it?

The hybrid SUV of a neighbouring country is going viral

This car that went viral on social media is not from any country in America or Europe but from China. Yes, this car is the YangWang U8 SUV of YangWang, the sister brand of Chinese car manufacturer BYD.

The company launched this car in China only last year. It is a hybrid SUV that is equipped with a diesel engine as well as a lithium-ion battery. This SUV can run on the road and rough roads and can also swim in water.

Can leave Land Rover behind

Yangwang U8 can take a 360-degree turn while standing in one place. With all these features, it has been included in the list of most expensive cars in China.

In China, it has been launched in two versions – Premium and Off-Road. Its premium version is priced at 1,089,000 Yuan (150k USD) which is ₹1.28 crores according to Indian currency.

At present, this car has been launched only in China but the company is planning to take it to the global market as well. If this happens, it can leave behind even a capable SUV like Range Rover.

The electric motor is installed with the engine.Since this car is a hybrid, it has a 49.05 kWh capacity blade battery with a 2.0L turbo-powered engine. This car is a unique example of advanced technology.

The surprising thing is that its battery is not installed separately but it is integrated into the frame of the car itself.

Such technology saves space inside the car to provide passengers and other amenities. Yangwang U8 has seats for 5 passengers, and it weighs around 4000 kg.

Features that will blow your senses

This car can generate 880 kW of power and 1,280 Nm of peak torque. Despite weighing 4 tons, it takes only 3.6 seconds to reach a speed of 0 to 100 mph.

If we talk about speed, it can be driven at a top speed of 120 mph. Nvidia’s chip has been installed in the SUV for control of electronic features.

This car has 38 sensors, 3 lidar radars, 13 cameras, 12 ultrasonic radars, 5 mm-wave radar, and level 2-ADAS suit safety features.

6 large screens have been installed inside the car. It also has features like a thermographic camera and satellite phone for running at night.

Can float in water for 30 minutesThe U8 can swim at a speed of 3 kilometers per hour for 30 minutes. Its wheels act as rotors in water. It can also rotate the floating tank.

However, the company has emphasized that it is only for emergencies like floods, and not for crossing lakes and rivers.

Interestingly, their marketing material shows the U8 floating on water in the same conditions. BYD claims that the U8 is an IP68-level waterproof car.

Can you buy it

At present, the YangWang U8 SUV has been launched only in the Chinese market. Also, BYD has not revealed any plans to launch it in India.

Let us tell you that up to 100% tax is levied on luxury cars imported into India. According to this, the price of this car will be more than Rs 2 crore.
