Bajaj Pulsar NS160 Flex Fuel: A Versatile and Affordable Motorcycle
Bajaj Auto is constantly working on new technology. Recently, the company launched the world’s first CNG bike Bajaj Freedom 125.
Now the company has showcased the new flex-fuel version of its famous bike Bajaj Pulsar NS160 at the India Bio-Energy and Tech (IBET) Expo 2024.
Sustainable fuel-related products were showcased in this two-day expo. Which was jointly organized by the Indian Federation of Green Energy and MM Active Science-Tech Communications.
What is flex fuel
Flex fuel is not a new thing. The government has also been constantly supporting the use of such technology.
Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has repeatedly advocated the manufacture of vehicles equipped with flex-fuel engines.
Flex fuel is an alternative fuel made from a mixture of petrol and other fuels such as ethanol or methanol. Flex-fuel vehicles have a regular (ICE) internal combustion engine and are made to run on more than one type of fuel.
How is the flex fuel Pulsar?
The company says that the Bajaj Pulsar NS160 flex fuel runs on a mixture of ethanol and petrol. Apart from this, Bajaj Auto has not yet given much information about the bike.
Recently, Bajaj Auto Managing Director Rajiv Bajaj had said that the ethanol-powered bike could be launched by March 2025.
Let us tell you that for some time now, the Government of India has been promoting vehicles running on E80/E100 ethanol.
TVS is also working on ethanol bikes and also showcased a flex-fuel model of the Apache RTR 200 a few years ago.
The consumption of E80/100 fuel is very high in Brazil and other South American countries and it would be wise to develop a flex-fuel bike to sell it in these countries.
Because companies like Bajaj and TVS also have a big presence in these countries.
However, India is also expected to move towards E80/E100 fuel. If these companies prepare flex-fuel vehicles in advance, it will be even easier to capture the market.
The petrol-powered Pulsar NS160 will get a single-cylinder engine of the 160.3 cc capacity. Which generates 17.2PS of power and 14.6Nm of torque.
The suspension setup includes telescopic forks and a monoshock while braking is handled by a 300 mm front disc brake and a 230 mm rear disc brake.
Along with the Pulsar NS160 Flex Fuel, Bajaj Auto also showcased the recently launched Bajaj Freedom 125 CNG bike at the IBET Expo 2024.
Its starting price is Rs 95,000 (ex-showroom). This bike comes in a total of three variants in which drum and disc brake options are available.
